MATERIALS WE USE

Every piece of Kimberly Baker Jewelry is handmade to order. All jewelry labeled silver is genuine sterling silver. All our gold jewelry is either gold vermeil or gold plated. All stones are real gems including diamonds, emeralds, sapphires and rubies.

Gold vermeil is electroplating sterling silver with gold; gold plating is electroplating a metal (usually brass or bronze) with gold. All our gold is electroplated to 2.5 microns thick, to comply with standard plating regulations.

GOLD VERMEIL
All Kimberly Baker Jewelry marketed as gold is either true 18 KT gold Vermeil or 18 KT gold-plated; gold Vermeil describes any piece of jewelry or component that is made by heavy electroplating sterling silver with gold. By regulation, it is not vermeil if the plating is less than 2.5 microns thick, and if the piece is not made of sterling silver. All of our vermeil is true vermeil.

GOLD PLATING
Though most of our designs are made with 18 KT Gold Vermeil some pieces in the collection are gold-plated, with a thickness of 2.5 microns over brass or bronze. With proper care, this plating will last a long time.
